With a goal by Lineth Cedeño, the Panamanian Women’s National Team achieved its historic qualification for the New Zealand-Australia 2023 World Cup, by beating Paraguay 1-0 in a match held in the city of Hamilton.
This first qualification to the women’s world cup is the work of months carried out by this group of players who fought for many years trying to get women’s soccer forward in our country and now they see their effort rewarded.
In this way, Panama is officially installed in group F together with Brazil, France and Jamaica, since they only needed to fill the quota for the playoffs that the Panamanians won against the Paraguayans.
Panama will play on July 24 against Brazil, on July 29 against Jamaica and ends the group round of the Women’s World Cup against France on August 2.
The First Lady of the Nation, Yazmín de Cortizo, congratulated the players for their achievement “I am witness to their great work, effort, dedication and above all their passion and enthusiasm. They are a great pride for Panama,” the First Lady posted on her social networks.
Now comes the preparation for the Women’s World Cup New Zealand – Australia 2023 that will be played from July 20 to August 20.
