The Série A1 (first division) of the Brazilian Women’s Championship returns this Saturday (17), after a two-month hiatus due to the team’s participation in the Paris Games, which culminated in the team winning the silver medal. Two games at 11 am (Brasília time) open the 14th round, the penultimate of the first phase (qualifying). Only the first eight placed teams, out of a total of 16, advance to the quarterfinals.
Fifth-placed Cruzeiro hosts leaders Corinthians. Flamengo, in eighth place, visits Avaí/Kindermann (15th), who are fighting to leave the relegation zone (ZR). The clash between Meninas da Gávea (Fla) and Leoas (Avaí) will be broadcast live on TV Brazill, straight from the Carlos Alberto Costa Neves Stadium (also known as Salézio Kindermann), in the city of Caçador (SC).

The Rio de Janeiro team took advantage of the weeks off in the Brasileirão to intensify training and adjust the team for the final two rounds of the first phase. In retrospect, Flamengo has the upper hand over Avaí: out of a total of eight matches, the Rio de Janeiro team won five and the Santa Catarina team three.
Captain of the red-black team, Santa Catarina native Djenifer Becker is looking forward to playing at home again in front of her family and friends.
“It’s nostalgic. Today I came to train on the field where I trained for years, in the city where I lived for years too. It’s a good feeling, but tomorrow I’m representing the red-and-black colors. It’s a very important game for us, and we need to go in with total focus. We know it’s going to be very difficult, given the whole situation: having a quality team on the other side, a small field. We have to stay very focused to get these three points,” said Djenifer, after the last training session on the morning of this Friday (16), in statement on Rubro-Negro’s Instagram.
Second-to-last in the Brasileirão, Avaí Kindermann is counting on the support of its fans to secure its first home win. In the next match, which closes the first phase, the Leoas will face Corinthians in São Paulo.
“We know how important these two games are for us, so that we can honor the Avaí/Kindermann jersey, so that we can seek this first victory at home to honor our work, because we know that things didn’t happen as we would have liked during the championship”, assessed Carine Bosetti, coach of the Leoas.
Santos vs Botafogo on TV Brazil
The Sereias da Vila and the Gloriosas face each other at 11 am on Sunday (18) with the challenge of escaping the ZR. The Santos team is in 13th place in the table, with 10 points, the same total as Botafogo, in 14th place. The match at Vila Belmiro will be broadcast live on TV Brazil.
