In an event full of revolutionary mystique and internationalist commitment, the Las Heroinas Hall of the Ministry for Women and Gender Equality (MinMujer) became the scene of the historic meeting “Cilia Flores International Solidarity Brigades for Peace.”
The event, which connected representatives from 16 countries and the 24 states of Venezuela by videoconference, had as its central purpose to debate and propose actions to strengthen sovereignty, as well as demand the release of the first lady, Cilia Flores, and President Nicolás Maduro.
During the activity, various leaders raised their voices to confirm that female strength is an engine of national and global stability. The national coordinator of the Josefa Joaquina Sánchez Movement of Movements, Yelitze Santaella, highlighted the organization of the people and the strategic importance of this year for Venezuelan women.
«Nicolás Maduro left us women a challenge and told us that this is the admirable year of women. Today we invite you to organize together with these brigades that will bear the name of a warrior woman, a heroine who has demonstrated absolute loyalty to the people and love. We ratify that, despite the interventionist intervention of the North American government on January 3, women remain committed to peace,” she expressed.
For her part, the Dominican activist and member of the Antifascist International, Maribel Núñez, highlighted the historical trajectory of Cilia Flores as a symbol of resistance:
«There is no revolutionary process without the audacity of Cilia Flores, that woman who came to where Commander Chávez was and told him: I am a lawyer and I am going to defend him. We must write her name in the history of feminist struggles with golden letters. “The empire is trying to take away the construction of a participatory world from us, but we will defend Cilia until we have her back in Caracas,” he said.
Finally, África Vargas, Women’s Commissioner of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (Psuv) of Caracas and deputy, emphasized the unity of the patriotic forces: “We are together, people, party and government, building the Cilia Flores International Brigades for Peace. We raise our voices for the peace of Venezuela, which is also the peace of humanity and the urgency of continuing to meet, organize and advance each and every one of us.
The commitment of the feminist vanguard
This meeting represents an act of denunciation against external aggressions and marks the birth of the “Cilia Flores” movement, a platform designed to make the injustices of imperialism visible to the international community.
By forming these brigades, Venezuelan women and their sisters from around the world reaffirm that peace diplomacy and militant solidarity are fundamental tools to safeguard the Bolivarian project.
The constant mobilization and historical awareness of the female working force are thus consolidated as the main shield of the nation against any attempt to break the self-determination of the people.
