This Tuesday, the women of science and technology debated the approaches that will be presented by Venezuela in the 67th period of sessions of the Commission on the Legal and Social Condition of Women, whose central theme this year is “Innovation and technological change, education in the digital age to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”.
The preparatory meeting was convened by the Ministry of Popular Power for Women and Gender Equality, which will represent our country in said session, which will take place in person, from March 6 to 17 at the Organization’s headquarters. of the United Nations in New York, United States.
In this sense, the minister of said portfolio, Diva Guzmán, stressed the importance of calling for discussion with a gender perspective, not only scientists, but also social promoters to participate in the permanent debate, which promotes the generation of public policies on the matter.
Guzmán recalled that Venezuela is the only country that has had two presidents who publicly recognized themselves as feminists: Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro, which has affected the breadth of the important role played by women, especially in times of international blockade and pandemic.
It was known that the meeting was attended by scientists, researchers, educators and public servants, from entities of the ministries of Popular Power for Education, Science and Technology, as well as leaders of Popular Power and representatives of the Peasant Scientific Alliance.
