“Women have been conspicuous by their absence in decision-making and in the formulation of public policies,” he said yesterday Epsy Campbell Barformer vice president of Costa Rica, speaking during the “Meeting of Political Women” organized by the Ministry of Women, the Research Center for Women’s Action (Cipaf), the United Nations Population Fund (Unfpa) and the Program Of The United Nations For Development (UNDP).
Campbell called on governments to develop strategies to promote equal participation of women and the challenge to ensure equal participation in the different spaces of power.
“Women have managed to be at the forefront of demanding positions, but more action needs to be seen in politics, they still have the capacity, the higher the level of equality in a country, the greater its development,” she said.

Similarly, he referred to the systematic aggression that often entails the exercise of politicsin the midst of which women face personal accusations that are detrimental to their morale.
“We must go hard against ideas but soft with people. We are not going to be discrediting the other, ”she stressed.
In this regard, the Minister for Women, Mayra Jimenezhighlighted that the region and the world have important challenges to close the gaps that exist around the political participation of women, in representation and in decision-making.
Despite this, Jiménez is certain that Dominican women will continue to participate in politics and be part of democracy.
The meeting brought together women representatives of the Government, as well as different political forces and civil society.
