The perception of gaming as an exclusive field for men is changing drastically. Now they are the “Women gamers” in different cities in Colombia who play and feel love for video games.

News Colombia.

Women gamers in Colombia have been assuming an increasingly relevant role in the online video game industry. As they become more visible and active, it creates a more welcoming and respectful environment for all players, regardless of gender.

A recent People Media study reveals that more than 50% of women in Colombia actively participate in video games, challenging gender stereotypes in this industry.

The creators have strived to design more authentic and diverse female protagonists, with intricate aspirations, characteristics and degrees of evolution. This has resulted in a greater understanding and bond with these characters on the part of players, regardless of their gender.

Although there are still some games that employ sexualization as a marketing strategy, more and more titles feature more inclusive and less sexualized character designs. Women in video games can now wear appropriate and functional clothing, instead of provocative and unrealistic outfits.

Technology companies recommend:

  1. Appropriate Technical Equipment: It is essential to have hardware that meets the requirements of video games. A Ryzen 5 or Intel Core 5 processor is a good starting point, accompanied by at least 8GB of RAM (preferably 16GB) and a graphics card such as the AMD Radeon RX 570 or the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 to ensure optimal performance.
  2. Ideal Environment: The space where it will be played is crucial. A well-lit and ventilated room is recommended, avoiding direct light affecting the display on the monitor, since a lot of time will be spent on this activity.
  3. Comfortable Furniture: A large desk, 1.5 to 2 meters long, 70 centimeters wide and between 80 cm and 1 meter high, will allow freedom of movement. Additionally, an ergonomic chair is key to providing back support and ensuring comfort during long gaming sessions.
  4. Monitors and Peripherals: A high-resolution monitor is essential, especially with the advent of video games that feature detailed graphics. Many modern monitors also include cameras for streaming. Likewise, having an ergonomic and precise gaming keyboard and mouse will improve the gaming experience.
  5. Immersive Sound: Good quality headphones are important not only to enjoy the listening experience but also to facilitate communication in online games.

The cultural transformation of gaming

Gaming has evolved beyond mere digital entertainment, becoming a cultural phenomenon that crosses various layers of society. Colombian women are playing a crucial role, both leading games and contributing to the development and design of video games.

The study de People Media, carried out in Wi-Fi zones, highlights the growing female participation in this field, dismantling stereotypes and highlighting the importance of women in the gaming community in Colombia.

These findings are a testament to the impact and relevance of women in this exciting field.
