Dozens of women trained by the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security (MTESS) in the textile area through its training entities, became entrepreneurs and are making various garments for sale. They are from the San Francisco and Chacarita neighborhoods. They received training in industrial sewing and pattern design.
By learning new tools, they gain access to economic income, as a result of the sale of their products. They are part of the project called “Grow”, which the portfolio carries out in villages considered vulnerable in Bañado Sur de Tacumbú, San Francisco neighborhood and Ricardo Brugada (Characita).
The project has a term of 3 years of execution and contemplates training in different areas, as well as advice for the concretion of businesses and generation of opportunities for the insertion in the labor market of its graduates.
Among the courses that are developed are masonry, electricity, computers, handling of heavy machines through simulators, welding, plumbing, gastronomy and several others.
These courses are given by MTESS training entities, such as the National Service for Professional Promotion (SNPP), the National System for Labor Education and Training (Sinafocal) and the Entrepreneur Training Center (CEE). This last entity develops courses on Branding, commercial image and enhancement, creation of logos for interested parties, cost of production, personal finance, among others.
The women who were trained in the textile area presented their garments in a fashion show that was held at the SNPP headquarters. Through this, they were able to contact important companies in the field for the placement of their products. In addition to this, they receive permanent advice from the CEE technicians to successfully advance their undertakings.
