Women and career transition in the world of work

Women and career transition in the world of work

Outplacement can be understood as an instrument that companies have to give their workers tools that allow them to better cope with job separation and make an effective and smooth transition to a new job.

(Women continue to access credit to a lesser extent: why).

This resource has become an important ally for women who have been strongly impacted by covid-19, and is positioning itself as one of the labor trends in 2022 aimed at increasing the employability of women.

Some countries are already seeing positive results. For example, in Peru, eight out of 10 executives have been relocated to a similar job or with a better position than the one they had before the health emergency, according to the LHH DBM company.

This strategy is convenient for women, because in addition to preparing them, it allows them to update themselves in the dynamics of a labor market that is undergoing accelerated transformations. In fact, a report from the World Economic Forum (WEF), which analyzed the skills most valued by employers, reported that by 2025 employers will see flexibility as one of the main skills in their workers or candidates.

Likewise, these processes also demand from employers a greater understanding of what women want in their jobs. That was exactly what was asked of 5,000 workers from different countries in the study ‘What women want (at work)’carried out by ManpowerGroup, a leading firm in human capital solutions.

“It is essential to ensure support for female workers throughout their career, including the transition”says Adriana Garcés, director of Talent Solutions at ManpowerGroup, when speaking of outplacement as a tool for job placement, adding that during the first year of the pandemic, 79 percent of the candidates for these programs got a new job equal to or better the previous.

IMPORTANCE OF OUTPLACEMENT FOR WOMEN

Women today seek jobs that protect their mental and financial health; where well-being is promoted and there are bosses who are aligned with these objectives.

“Female employees must be equipped with skills that are valuable in a changing labor market, where more and more jobs, functions, skills and competencies are transferable”, Garces says.

(Outstanding debt: gender equality in the labor market).

The study indicates that 70 percent of those consulted want opportunities to develop their careers, while 49 percent seek autonomy and flexibility. In addition to these factors, women also favor organizations with empathetic leaders, a culture of trust, and safe and healthy working conditions.

Finally, the Talent Solutions executive asserts that the future of outplacement must evolve in its vital role of guiding people and organizations in the recovery from the pandemic, helping to create a confident, agile and valuable workforce, capable of facing the challenges of the coming years.
