A woman pulled a gun inside Dallas Love Field airport Monday morning and began shooting at the ceiling, police said, halting flight operations for several hours Monday.

Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said the woman, identified by police Monday afternoon as 37-year-old Portia Odufuwa, was dropped off at the airport shortly before 11 a.m. and that once inside, she was to the bathroom and changed clothes.

Garcia said the woman came out of the bathroom wearing a hooded sweater, pulled out a gun and started shooting. Most of the shots, she said, appeared to be aimed at the ceiling. “From what we’re seeing, it was pointing at the ceiling,” Garcia said.

According to the airport, officers confronted Odufuwa around 11:23 am and shot him in the lower limbs. The woman was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital.

According to a witness, the woman said that her husband was cheating on her. The witness spoke to a local station Monday afternoon, said he was standing near her when he pulled out a gun and started shooting. “She basically said her husband was cheating on her or something. Then she pulled out a gun. She fired the first shot into the air and everyone dispersed,” she said.

At the close it was learned that Odufuwa had been arrested three years ago for robbing a bank. In April 2019, local news station KDFW News reported that she was arrested and charged with robbing a Bank of America in Wylie, Texas.
