Woman left for dead in a hospital in Ecuador “revives” in full wake

Judith Pena | June 10, 2023

An older adult declared clinically dead in a hospital in Babahoyo, Ecuador, regained consciousness just as she was going to be watched by her relatives.

It all happened, on Olmedo streets between García Moreno and 5 de Junio, in Babahoyo, when relatives and neighbors were getting ready to change her clothes and start the wake and when they touched her they realized that she was still breathing, although with some difficulty.

They immediately called 911, however, as can be seen in the video, they were not informed that there were no ambulances. Minutes later, personnel from the Fire Department went to the scene and confirmed that the elderly woman named Bella Montoya was alive, so she was taken to a hospital.

The health authorities have not ruled on this unusual event, however Ecuadorian doctors have told the local media that what could have happened is that the woman suffered brain death and will find herself in a state of catalepsy resulting in the opinion of wrong death.
