Woman drowns after boat overturns on the way to Isla Saona

Bayahíbe.- A woman drowned and two other people were injured this Sunday after a boat overturned during an excursion to Saona Island, in Bayahibe, La Altagracia province.

The deceased was identified as Argentina Payano, who died of suffocation due to submersion and was reported to be a native of San Pedro de Macorís.

While two other people were transferred to the Dr. Arístides Fiallo Cabral Hospital, in La Romana due to the conditions they presented after the turn.

Boat that capsized leaving for Saona Island with 33 people on board

The boat, captained by Luis Yeraldy Roca Pérez, was carrying 33 people on an excursion to Saona Island, almost all of them from the city of San Pedro de Macorís.

The boat, owned by the Bayahibe Tourist Excursions Association, capsized a short distance off the coast of said town.

A heavy mechanical shovel was used to extract the boat from the place where it capsized and brought to the beach to investigate the causes of the accident.

ANOTHER TRAGIC EVENT IN THE PLACE
It is recalled that, a week ago, a fire broke out on a catamaran that was transporting food to Saona Island, leaving three men with burns, one of them, identified as Danny Danyer de Paula, 25 years old, died yesterday Saturday.

While Jovanny Pérez Lufón and Casimiro Jack continue to be admitted to the Central Romana Medical Center.
