The suspect, Patrick Xavier Clark, 33, “was arrested yesterday [jueves por la noche]”Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said at a press conference.
The officer explained that 22-year-old Cameron Joshua had previously been captured for illegal possession of weapons.
Houston Police Sgt. Michael Burrow explained that the shooting at a private party followed an argument over a “lucrative game of craps,” but clarified that Takeoff was not involved and was “an innocent bystander.”
He also said the investigation was ongoing. Two other people were injured on that occasion, following an incident at a bowling club (bowling alley).
“Gun violence everywhere, not just in the city of Houston, has to end,” said the city’s mayor, Sylvester Turner. It was a shooting where “a young man took the life of another young man, without reason,” he added.
Kirshnik Khari Ball, Takeoff, was born in Lawrenceville, Georgia, on June 18, 1994. He was best known for being a member of Migos along with Quavo, his uncle, and Offset, his cousin, who is married to fellow rapper Cardi B.
Atlanta-based Migos rose to fame with their viral 2013 song “Versace,” which Canadian superstar Drake remixed. Later, the trio recorded “Walk It Talk It” with him.
But it was the 2016 hit “Bad and Boujee” that put them on top. This track has been played 1.5 billion times in the United States alone.
In the weeks after the shooting, Quavo wrote an emotional tribute to Takeoff, praising his nephew’s “true passion for music.”
“He created his triplet flow and the rest is history,” added Quavo. “He never cared about titles, credit or which man had the most shine,” he considered.
