Woman caught arrived at Cibao Airport with more than 30 pounds of marijuana

officers of the DNational Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) supported by members of the Specialized Airport Security Corps and coordinated by members of the Public Ministry, they seized more than 30 pounds of marijuana inside a suitcase, through an inspection operation carried out at the Cibao International Airport, Santiago de los Caballeros.

The anti-narcotics agents, the military and inspectors from official organizations were carrying out verification work in the arrival area of ​​the terminal, when they noticed strange substances in one of the pieces of luggage, immediately initiating a more rigorous inspection.

In the presence of a prosecutor, the suitcase was opened, finding inside two bales and a portion, presumably of marijuana, weighing approximately 33.03 pounds.

A 22-year-old Dominican-American young woman was arrested for the case, who arrived at the Santiago Airport on a commercial flight from New York, United States.

The Public Ministry and the DNCD deepen the investigations around the case, while the detainee will be brought to justice in the next few hours for violation of law 50-88, on drugs and controlled substances.

“The young woman was also seized paper to roll cigarettes, lighters, cash, personal documents, among other evidence.”

The plant that is presumed to be marijuana is being sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) of Santiago, for the corresponding purposes.
