From Monday, May 9 to Thursday, May 12, the neighborhood Penarol it was the scene of multiple violent events where the death of at least six people was recorded; five of the deceased appeared dead, while the rest perished in the context of a confrontation with police officers. In this context, the fourth body found was that of a woman who appeared burned and dismembered last Wednesday.
The authorities found the body when they put out a fire in a property located in the surroundings of Luis Pasteur and Terencio streets. The announcement was made by a neighbor in the area, who reported that someone burned a pasture.
The National Directorate of Firefighters arrived at the site and while they controlled the flames they found a dismembered corpse. This was under a precarious structure in the shape of a shed and was burned.
Initially, the authorities handled the possibility that the body found belonged to a 60-year-old woman who used to spend the night in the compound. In addition, the agents analyzed if there was any kind of link with the other three murders that occurred hours before in the same neighborhood.

According to the information handled by the Police, the deceased were people who used to visit the woman whose identity would correspond to that of the body found. In addition, they suspected that all the murders were linked to drug trafficking. This is because, among other things, the farm where she lived used to have a constant movement of people.
However, in the last few hours the information emerged that the woman was not actually the victim of a murder. On the contrary, her death occurred in other conditions.
The Ministry of the Interior maintains the investigations in the case, however, everything seems to indicate that it was not a homicide, as stated by the director of Citizen Coexistence of the portfolio, Santiago González.
In a press conference, the chief indicated that “everything indicates, without being conclusive, that it was an accident,” he said.
Regarding the dismemberment of the body, he indicated that this would have occurred due to the maneuvers of the Fire Department personnel. “The actions of the firefighters, with the pressure of the hose itself, did what unfortunately we all know, but in principle there is nothing to indicate that it is a homicide,” he said.
