The New Mexican School (NEM) can only improve and become a successful national project with the participation of teachers, who are the ones who know what happens in the classrooms, said Carlos Ramírez Sámano, Undersecretary of Upper Secondary Education of the SEP.
After highlighting that the NEM educational model has only just completed one year of operation and it is still premature to have precise diagnoses, he said that It is a project that we must wait at least a generation, or nine years, to really know how it is working.

At the Pedagogical Meeting of Teachers of Mexico City, organized by the National Coordinator of Education Workers (CNTE), he said that the new federal government that will be headed by the future president Claudia Sheinbaum will strengthen the NEM; that is, the project continues, but it has to be improved with the word and experiences of the teachers, without them we are condemned, as in the previous six-year periods, to failure.

Now We work by projects, not by subjects, and that is why the textbooks do not include mathematics, language, history and other subjects, but rather classroom projects, community projects and school projects; so it has been a very complex situation for teachers to face a methodological change of these characteristics.

In view of this, What we are demanding is that the NEM has to be implemented in a way in which the participation of teachers is fundamental. Without us it is not possible.
