National Action (PAN) presented 34 reservations to the ruling, but Morena and its allies rejected the possibility of discussing them in the Commission and the president of the Commission, Merilyn Gómez Pozos, approved the ruling “in general and in particular.”
“I know they are desperate to leave, but we must all be committed to giving a fair analysis,” warned PAN member Héctor Saúl Téllez, but the Morenista accelerated the closure.
Gómez Pozos said in an interview that about a thousand reservations could be presented, but tomorrow the plenary session of the Chamber will only discuss and vote on the Budget ruling in general, without changes.
The modification proposals will be presented until the reservation stage, starting on Wednesday.
The coordinator of the Morena deputies, Ricardo Monreal, insisted that the modifications could be between 17 and 18 billion pesos, a product of cuts to the Judicial Branch, the National Electoral Institute (INE), the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (TEPJF) and the resources would be reallocated to culture, countryside, water, infrastructure and the environment.
They confront security expenses
On this occasion, unlike ten days ago when only one deputy attended in person, all the deputies of the Budget Committee attended, but they met at speed.
With a round of five-minute positions and then interventions of three minutes in favor and three against, the deputies made their analysis on how more than 10 billion pesos should be distributed.
There, the opposition denounced above all cuts to public security and health, culture; tourism; agriculture and rural development; women; work and social security, to mention a few.
For security, the ruling establishes resources for 60,110 million pesos in 2026, but it is a reduction of 17.5% compared to 2025. Morena and the Labor Party assured that there is no such adjustment and there will be more resources for these items.
Mario Zamora, of the PRI, summarized the case of the mayor of Uruapan murdered on Saturday, Carlos Manzo: “there were three factors: abandonment to the countryside, abandonment of the mayors and insecurity.”
“Uruapan is the municipality with the highest avocado production and look what just happened to us in Uruapan. The total abandonment of the municipalities And look what happens to the brave mayors who dare to point out and say things as they are,” he added.
“And a total abandonment of security. And look what happens when these three things come together. Let’s take off the blindfolds. This is not a partisan vision, this is the responsibility we have as representatives of Mexicans. It is not possible that the countryside today is receiving less than what it received in 2016.”
He recalled that the Secretary of Security Omar García Harfuch asked to reinforce the municipal and state police, but they are not given resources.
“I say this with all due respect. I hope there are many Batgirls. But let’s support Omar García Harfuch in the budget. Let’s support the Ministry of Public Security so that it can give results.”
