Without mishap, the first commercial flight landed at the Paipa airport.

Amid applause and the happiness of the spectators, the runway of the Juan José Rondón airport was the setting for the landing of the ART 42-600 plane of the Easyfly airline coming from Medellin and with which regular commercial flights start from Boyaca. Under the gaze of onlookers, residents and authorities, the aircraft ready to inaugurate commercial flights from Boyacá arrived without incident, after a journey that took about 50 minutes.

In this regard the Governor of the department of Boyacá, Ramiro Barragán Adame, pointed out that after years of waiting, this project is finally being fulfilled.

“We are very grateful to the National government and the Easyfly airline with its president Alfonso Ávila, a person from the department who showed us his interest and collaboration to make this dream come true so that from Paipa the commercial air connectivity of Boyacá begins as the first to improve the competitiveness of the department. Likewise, we thank the Civil Aviation for all the effort put into this project.

In his turn, he Mayor of Paipa, Fabio Alberto Medranosaid that through the Paipa connects you strategy, it seeks to promote and position the municipality as an epicenter of cultural, tourist and economic connection.

“We were the only department in Colombia that did not have an airport with commercial flights and thanks to EasyFly we can put our territory on an equal footing for competitiveness not only in tourism but also in industry.” Said the president.

The president added: “The intention is of course that our Juan José Rondón airport continues to consolidate itself as one of the most important at the national level. For now our intention is to consolidate these two routes but knowing that we also have to reach destinations as important as Yopal, such as the Atlantic coast and even the country’s capital”. Medrano pointed out.

For Alfonso Ávila Velandia, president of Easyfly, this new destination marks a milestone for the airline. “The department of Boyacá has industrial, tourist and craft significance, where air connectivity will give a greater boost to these activities with the arrival of national and foreign passengers, who will take advantage of the time they spent traveling by land, to enjoy this attraction even more. destination as well as the nearby municipalities.

The route Medellín- Paipa – Medellín, will have a frequency of three days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). In turn, the path Bucaramanga – Paipa – Bucaramanga, with frequencies on Thursday and Sunday. Several municipal mayors, including Duitama, Villa de Leyva and Nobsaadvance actions to form a tourist package that leads to the economic and cultural strengthening of the region from the air operation to the department.
