Without electricity from Cienfuegos to Guantánamo

OnCubaNews

A brief note from Electrical Union (Une) reports that the provinces from Cienfuegos to Guantánamo are without electricity supply, due to a fault in the 220 kV lines Matanzas-Santa Clara and Matanzas-Cienfuegos.

They also inform that the process of restoring the service has already begun and promises that the causes of this new breakdown will be “informed in a timely manner.”

It is the third time in just over a week that the National Electric Power System (SEN) suffers failures that leave a good part of the country without electricity.

On February 13, a failure was reported, also in 220 kilovolt (KV) high-voltage lines, which left almost half of the island without power.

On that occasion, the UNE pointed out as the cause of the system failure in the central-eastern region “a cane burning in the area” that affected the laying of the lines.

“When the two lines left the system, the power transfer between the western-central-eastern zone was cut off and caused the system to fall from Ciego de Ávila to Guantánamo,” the entity said in an informative note.

a similar situation Occurred five days later, with affectations in 11 of the 15 provinces of the country.

A “human error” in the Matanzas 220 Kv substation was then the cause indicated, and the supply cut extended from Yumurino territory to Guantánamo, in the eastern end of the island, according to what the technical director of the technical director reported on national television. la Une, Lazaro Guerra.
