Last July, the Federal Registry of Voters (RFE) issued four credentials for homeless people and 865 people requested the card only as an identification mechanism, not to vote.

This was stated during the report presented to the National Oversight Commission of the National Electoral Institute (INE), where representatives of political parties have the right to speak and vote.

After counting the additions and deletions of the month, it was determined that the registry currently contains the data of 99 million 239 thousand 808 Mexicans, while the nominal list (people with a valid credential) now has 97 million 553 thousand 557 names.

In addition, other details of this database and the activities carried out in the 843 citizen service modules of the INE were presented.

During July of this year, 185 people presented identity documents that accredit them as non-binary people, while 418 received this type of credential through a voluntary act, that is, it is enough to say in the INE module that they perceive themselves in that way.

The commission also indicated that during the period referred to, 74 credentials were delivered to people trans.

The data contained in the register are not only used to issue voter ID cards, but also to verify identity through biometric data such as facial photographs and fingerprints. In this regard, it was said that 106 institutions make effective use from the census data, pursuant to agreements with the National Banking and Securities Commission.
