With the social contract broken, what do Cubans expect from the PCC?

Cuba, 15N

2025 ends and with the year the first quarter of the 21st century also ends, which is another, yes, another 25 lost years for the Cuban nation.

PUERTO PADRE, Cuba – “Now there is no money in Cuba for congresses. And even less to review agreements that have not been fulfilled up to the present nor will be fulfilled in the future, such as the flagrant breach of the social contract, but we will discuss that in the next article,” we stated in the previous column.

And, as what is promised is a debt, here is what is offered regarding the gloomy panorama that we Cubans experience, and not only those of us who survive on the island-prison that constitutes Cuba, but also and with rare exceptions Cubans in the diasporaall equally, although in different ways, punished in this island-prison, some behind iron bars, or watched in our houses by dry or watery henchmen according to their careerism, and, others, prisoners in their comings and goings in their carnival pachanga that is nothing but drum beats of a goat that pays with its skin, barracks chants in a vacuous rejoicing, yes, memo, tamer, whip of plebs by propitiator of wealth before the slaver as today without apparent slavery valid for the dictatorship.

But, since 1492 and until today, observing from the promontory or depression that constitute our geography and our political, social, historical and genetic background… What else but solo immolation or conga partying and brothel can we expect from Cubans?!

2025 ends and with the year the first quarter of the 21st century also ends, which are for the cuban nation others, yes, another 25 years lost. And because of these barren results, infertile because they are politically uneducated and therefore civically and socioeconomically sterile, these other 25 useless years hurt for those of us who, trying to live, have spent our lives surviving, because with the moral decline of the Cuban and of everything Cuban, they are even worse years than the very sad past, those where the dictatorship of Gerardo Machado looks tenuous compared to the harsh existence that totalitarianism Castro-communist has not imposed and what modus vivendi have we followed; So, of course, he concludes that the term nation is too big for us Cubans because in light of our history we are reduced to a mere “bunch of people.”

And a party of nondescript people, the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), by constitutional mandate, that of the so-called “dictatorship of the proletariat”, but which in reality is an autocracy of obese bureaucrats leading an undernourished people by the halter, says and repeats that the PCC is the “superior leading political force of society and the State.” Hey!, if it’s like saying, Beelzebub, come incinerate them!, because it is public and notorious that the leadership of the communists is not based on natural leadership, but on legal and police repression, on the coydination of the masses by rinsing of thought if not by taming with sticks and corral.

Did anyone forget the UMAP? They are facts proven as early as since 1959when members of workers’ and students’ unions, or soldiers and military leaders, went to prison for demanding civil rights. Then…, the imprisonments due to 11J and all the arrests and their prosecutions, produced recently as protests and civic demands for breach of the social contract, are not new events, they only come to give continuity to the policies of repression of the totalitarian regime that has already been in power for 67 years, masking its aggressiveness against the people for being “a blocked country.”

Yes, blocked by those who are seated on the stools of absolute power.

If Cuba were blocked by the United States according to the hackneyed discourse of the Castro-communist hierarchs, there would be no modern American cars circulating on Cuban roads, nor “Made in USA” chickens in the kitchens from Cabo San Antonio to Punta Maisí, nor “Cuban-Americans” in droves vacationing in Cuba, throughout the archipelago. But there is no worse blind man than he who does not want to see.

The PCC is bland as a political leader and inept as an economic manager and he is not such a “superior leader of society and the State”, and his triviality, his insignificance except to order police, judges and criminal sanctions far from safeguarding public security, demonstrate his inability to lead the productive forces making Cuba a country as it is today, in a state of paralysis.

Cornered and without other options, neither policies, nor political parties, nor an economic system that was not the “socialist state company”, because as I have repeated on so many occasions, even the shoe shine drawers were “nationalized”, meaning expropriated during the so-called “revolutionary offensive” of 1968, the Cubans “agreed upon” a social contract with the brothers Fidel and Raúl Castro, supreme leaders of the PCC, which neither of the two parties has fulfilled, because the totalitarian State, having become a usurping monopolist, turned the Cuban into a generic thief, both of public and private things, a minister as well as a shopkeeper.

No, to clarify this matter I will not exhaust the reader’s patience with the theory of the social contract according to Rousseau, Thomas Hobbes or John Locke, who say that a political society can only exist there, and only there, where each of the members has renounced their natural power, that with which human beings are born, putting it in the hands of the community in all those cases in which it can resort to demand protection from the law established by that society, or in other words, not taking justice into its own hands; that there, say the classics, resides the origin of the legislative and executive power of civil society, the power to judge according to established laws, and consequently, the greatest and main purpose that people pursue when gathering in a State, submitting to a government, is the protection of the person and their property, protection that would be insufficient in the state of nature of the individual, that is, by himself.

But there is a much simpler definition of the social contract, very clear in the Cuban context, said on Tuesday, August 4, 1959 at a meeting of the National Institute of Agrarian Reform (INRA), which at that time functioned as a State within the Cuban State, when referring to the rural population, Fidel Castro said: “If we have the guajiros well settled and we have the guajiros without going hungry, and we have the guajiros with doctors and medicines and other beneficial measures, we can now to say that the Agrarian Reform and the Revolution have definitively triumphed in Cuba.”

I don’t have to say that by the work and grace of the rustler and thieves in general and police inefficiency, not only the Cuban countryside but all of Cuba has become Don Pío’s pasture; I do not have to say that in Cuba there has not been such an “Agrarian Reform”, but rather an absent landowning State, then idle, and consequently, there was and is not such a “Revolution” for the humble, where not only the “guajiros”, but the entire population, some hungry and others undernourished, are very poorly “settled”; Nor do I have to say that there is a lack of doctors and medicines and “other beneficial measures,” as Fidel Castro said, as if to say that the self-proclaimed “revolutionaries” have “definitively triumphed.”

In short, the broken social contract is visible, the one signed one day by raising one’s hand, and now Cubans can expect from the PCC the same thing that Castro-communism has already given them for more than half a century, words. Vanity. And it is up to Cubans to continue being vain or being vital.
