The highlight of the day was the victory of the mixed relay team 4×100 meters free 49 points (for athletes with visual impairment). The team formed by Pernambuco Carol Santiago, Pará Lucilene Sousa, Fluminense Thomaz Matera and Paulista Guilherme Batista swam the race at 4min23s48 to keep gold setting a new world record. The best previous time of the race was from Ukraine, 4min25s78 recorded at the Manchester World Cup in 2023.

The other Brazilian gold on Wednesday was won by miner Gabriel Araújo in the 200-meter-free race for class S2 (physical-motor impairment) with a time of 3min58s45. “It was a different test of all I’ve been born to this day. It shows what is well done, a well done planning, a good training routine,” he said.

This Wednesday, Brazil also secured three silver, with Santa Catarina Talisson Glock in the 400 meters Free S6 (physical-motor impairment), with Fluminense Mariana Gesteira in the 100 meters of class S9 and the 4×100 meter relay team S14 (intellectual deficiency).

Finally, Fluminense Lídia Cruz won the bronze medal in the 50 meters back of the S4 class (physical-motor impairment).
