Senate President David Alcolumbre (Union-AP) determined that the Deliberative Session of the Senate this Thursday (7) is performed in a remote system. According to him, The decision aims to ensure the operation of the house and prevent the legislative agenda from being paralyzed because of the obstruction of the Senate plenary by opposition parliamentarians.
“I will not accept intimidation or attempts to embarrass the presidency of the Senate. Parliament will not be hostage to actions aimed at destabilizing its operation,” Alcolumbre said in a statement.
According to him, matters of interest to the population will continue to be votedas the project that ensures the exemption of income tax for those who receive up to two minimum wages.
“Democracy is done with dialogue, but also with responsibility and firmness,” concluded the president of the Senate.
Opposition parliamentarians have been since yesterday (6) obstructing the Senate plenary and the House of Representatives in protest against house arrest of former President Jair Bolsonaro. They also want to be based on the general and unrestricted amnesty to those convicted of attempted coup in the trial of the coup plot, as well as the impeachment of the Minister of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes.
According to Senator Carlos Portinho (PL-RJ), so far the request for impeachment de Moraes gathers 40 signatures of nine -part parliamentarians: MDB, PSB, Somos, PP, Republicans, PL, Novo, União Brasil and PSD. Therefore, only a signature is missing so that the request can be filed in the Senate.
“We will get not only one more, we will get beyond the 41 signatures, far beyond the majority of the Federal Senate. And in a democracy, most have voice. And President David Alcolumbre will have to respect the desire of all senators who signed, because it is suprapartisan,” Portinho told a press conference.
Senator Marcos do Val (Somos-ES), who has been an anklet since last Monday, also participated in the press conference, due to the determination of Alexandre de Moraes, for breach of precautionary measures previously imposed, such as the delivery of all his passports so that he could not leave the country. Val did not speak, as he had a beady in his mouth as part of the protest.
