With marches and different acts, social and political organizations remember this Friday the 46th anniversary of La Noche de los Lapiceswhen ten high school students were kidnapped and tortured for claiming the student ticket in the city of La Plata.

For its part, the Secretariat of Human Rights carries out a day of tribute in Tecnópolis from 10:30 a.m.in which high school students and Mothers and Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo participate.

Within the campaign “Participating is your right”the meeting -titled “Always Present!”- is aimed at high school students with the aim of paying homage to the youth of La Noche de los Lápices.

The main event -scheduled for 2pm- will be a “Dialogue between Generations”, where young people can talk with Vera Jarach (Mother of Plaza de Mayo Founding Line) and Buscarita Roa (Grandmother of Plaza de Mayo).

The meeting will also be accompanied by the Secretary of Human Rights, Horacio Pietragalla Corti, and the Buenos Aires legislator, Ofelia Fernández, with the leadership of the streamer and political scientist Leyla Becha.

In the city of La Plata, the ten high school students will be remembered with a march through the center of the town.

The Union of Secondary Students (UES) convened a caravan that will depart at 2:00 p.m. from Plaza Italia in La Plata and will end at the Buenos Aires Ministry of Infrastructure, located on 7th and 58th streets.

It is known as the Night of the Pencils to the events that occurred on September 16, 1976 in La Plata, when the Police of the Province of Buenos Aires kidnapped a group of young militants of the Union of Secondary Students, framed in the Peronism of left, and the Guevarista Youth, a youth branch of the Revolutionary Workers Party.

Some of them had participated during the spring of 1975 in the mobilizations that demanded the Secondary Student Ticket.

Of those students who are still missing today: Claudia Falcone (16 years old), Francisco López Muntaner (16 years old), María Clara Ciocchini (18 years old), Horacio Ungaro (17 years old), Daniel Racero (18 years old) and Claudio de Acha (18 years old). ).

Gustavo Calotti, Emilce Moler, Patricia Miranda and Pablo Díaz were also kidnapped and are the only survivors of the event.

In commemoration of that day, as of 2014, through Law 27,002, every September 16 the National Youth Day is celebrated.

Ministers remembered the 46th anniversary of La Noche de los Lapices

The Buenos Aires Ministers of Justice and Human Rights, Julio Alak; of Government, Cristina Álvarez Rodríguez; of Labour, Walter Correa; of Transportation, Jorge D’Onofrio; and Education, Alberto Sileoni, remembered the anniversary of La Noche de los Lápices.

“46 years after the Night of the Pencils, we remember the kidnapping of ten students who claimed the student ticket and the disappearance of six of them, a crime of State terrorism that still moves us and encourages us to continue the fight for the Homeland that they dreamed,” Alak posted on his Twitter account.

Then, he argued that “in the face of unlimited cruelty, whose correlate was the destruction of national industry and Argentina’s unlimited indebtedness, it can be said that ‘they had their bodies but not their obedience,’ as the banners of the students maintain. from today”.

In that tone, Correa expressed: “On this day we remember our fellow high school students from La Plata, detained-disappeared during the so-called Night of the Pencils.”

“Six students remain missing. Present. Never again. Neither forgotten nor forgiven,” he closed his publication.

Similarly, Sileoni wrote on Twitter: “46 years after the Night of the Pencils we commemorate the struggle of those young militants. The school must be a place of knowledge, learning and teaching, and at the same time, a stage where to work exhaustively for memory, truth and justice”.

At the same time, the Government Minister, Cristina Álvarez Rodríguez, recalled that “46 years ago, ten high school students were kidnapped and tortured by the dictatorship when they claimed the Student Ticket on the so-called Night of the Pencils” and that “only four survived” .

“Today the pencils continue to write, because the force of youth is unstoppable,” the official added.

Meanwhile, D’Onofrio posted: “Those pencils that wanted to disappear, today continue to write and fight for education. The student ticket is a right that many and many of us claim and it will be the most precious legacy to continue defending. The pencils continue writing”.
