With just turned 82, the Mayor of Arbolito is the oldest in the entire country. Since the previous period, when there were 9 Municipalities in Cerro Largo, the ruler of the historic locality, some 30 kilometers away from the departmental capital, has become an example and reference for other colleagues. After the last session of the Federation of Mayors, Luis Seguí spoke with the media that covered the meeting. “It coincided with my birthday because the Federation marked it that way. Anyway, I thank you very much. I am grateful for all that attitude they have had. As they prepared it. It doesn’t matter to me” expressed the Mayor of Arbolito. “I found out recently that I am the Mayor of the country,” he said proudly. “They are all younger” he added in relation to the other 124 Heads of Municipal Government that the country currently has. “I don’t know if older and older is different, but in any case I can tell you that I continue to feel comfortable and satisfied with what I have learned after reaching a certain age. He really believed that he was not going to be on the mat. Life in rural areas, life in the countryside has been healthy, happy and very sincere. I dedicated myself to rural tasks for many years dealing with very few people. Every time I meet people with different levels of preparation, it’s like I got a key to put it, I don’t know if in the heart or in the mind that he has given me to coordinate these things. I didn’t rehearse, I’m like that naturally. I feel comfortable” he remarked. “I always try to match what I do with what I speak and what I speak with what I do” expressed Luis Seguí. “People give me tremendous strength, not only on days like today but with every payment I go, every place I go. Every friend that I have made in life I keep, I learn, I attend. I have no words to thank all those who in one way or another support me. All old people accumulate a life story. It seems that a report that is covered up wakes up on a day like today with tremendous joy, ”he said. Don Luis Seguí is one of the most beloved and respected Mayors at the level of the Cerro Largo Federation. “Personally, I am convinced that every time we have a meeting with each one, we outline the issues that are of interest to all because the Law of Municipalities is one” he concluded by saying.
