With a strong presence of Approve Dignity: Gabriel Boric delivers the final list of 39 undersecretaries for his government

The mystery is over. That first was Monday, January 24, then it was postponed two more days, to finally announce that it would be revealed on February 1. The truth is that during the afternoon of this Tuesday -and “before the game of Chile” as indicated by the future minister of the Segpres Giogio Jackson- the incoming government of Gabriel Boric delivered the final list of the 39 undersecretaries who will accompany him -they hope- during his 4-year term.

Of the 64, 4 had already been formalized informally by the spokeswoman Camila Vallejo: Manuel Monsalve (PS) in the Undersecretary of the Interior, Claudia Sanhueza (RD) in the Treasury, Miguel Crispi (RD) in Regional Development and the political scientist Lucía Dammert who will be the head of advisers of the “Second Floor” of La Moneda.

It was missing to know the rest, especially those of the political committee, which includes the portfolios of Interior, General Secretariat of the Presidency, General Secretariat of Government, Finance and the Women and Gender Equity, newly incorporated.

In the Interior, in addition to Monsalve and Crispi, the Undersecretary for Public Safety and Crime Prevention will be Eduardo Vergara (PPD), political scientist with a specialty in security. He is the executive director of Fundación Chile 21 and was National Coordinator of the Division of Prevention and Security in Massive Events (2014-2015), Head of the Public Security Division and advisor on Public Security of the Undersecretary of the Interior (2015-2018). .

The undersecretary of the Segegob will be Valeska Orange, Social Anthropologist and Master in Political Communication University of Chile, Doctoral student in Gender and Feminism University Complutense of Madrid, Ontological Coach Newfield. She has worked in the Ministries of Economy, Housing and the Interior. In the private world I have been an expert consultant in participation and community management, as well as in organizational management, internal and external communication. She is a member of the Common Force.

At Segpres, the lawyer and graduate in legal and social sciences from the University of Chile, Macarena Lobos (Ind) will be undersecretary. She also has a diploma in advanced studies and a doctorate in law from the Complutense University of Madrid. She has been an academic and adviser on labor and social security matters, as well as legal adviser to the Budget Office. She currently works as a teacher at the School of Government of the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC).

The political committee, in addition to the future Undersecretary of Finance, Claudia Sanhueza, is closed by the Undersecretary of Women and Gender Equity. She is Luz Vidal (Ind), a private house worker with more than 15 years of experience working with various families in the RM. She has been a social leader, co-founder of the Mapuche women’s cooperative Folil Araucanía. She was an official of the Fundación de las Familias, belonging to the network of foundations of the Presidency.

The rest of the undersecretaries

In Foreign Affairs, the two undersecretaries will be Ximena Fuentes (CS) Y Jose Miguel Ahumada (Ind)in Foreign Relations and International Economic Relations, respectively.

In the Ministry of Economy, the undersecretaries will be Javiera Petersen (PC) as Undersecretary of Economy and Smaller Size Companies; Veronica Kunze (Ind) in Tourism; Y Julio Salas (Ind.) in Fisheries and Aquaculture.

In the Education portfolio, the undersecretaries are: Nicholas Cataldo (PC) in education; Maria Isabel Diaz (PS) in Early Childhood Education; Y Veronica Figueroa (Ind) in Higher Education.

Giorgio Boccardo (Commons) in work and Christian Larrain (Ind) in Social Security are the undersecretaries in the Ministry of Labor.

In the Ministry of National Defense they were elected Fernando Ayala (PPD) as Undersecretary of Defense and Gaul Eildestein (PC)as undersecretary for the Armed Forces.

In the Ministry of Social Development and Family, Paula Poblete (RD) in Social Evaluation; Francisca Perales (CS) in Social Services; Y Rocio Faundez (RD) in Childhood they will be the undersecretaries.

In Justice, the chosen ones were Jaime Gajardo (PC) in Justice and Haydee Oberreuter (Ind) of Human Rights.

In the Ministry of Public Works, the undersecretary will be Alfredo Gutierrez (Ind); and in the Housing and Urbanism portfolio, Tatiana Rojas (RD).

In the Health portfolio, the chosen ones are Cristobal Cuadrado (RD) for Public Health; Y Fernando Araos (Ind.) in Healthcare Networks.

In the Ministry of Agriculture, the undersecretary will be Jose Guajardo (FRVS); in Mining Willy Kracht (CS); and in Energy Julius Maturana (PC).

In Transportation, they will be Christopher Pineda in Transportation; Y Claudio Araya (PC) in Telecommunications.

marilyn cabrera will be the undersecretary of National Assets; Maximiliano Proano Ugalde Environment; Y Carolina Gainza in Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation.

Antonia Illanes will be the Undersecretary of Sports.

And in the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, Andrea Gutiérrez, in Cultures and Arts; and María Paulina Soto Labbé in Cultural Heritage.

In summary: 20 men and 19 women, with a strong presence of Approve Dignity: eight militants from the Democratic Revolution, six from Social Convergence and six from the Communist Party, and an undersecretary for the Social Green Regionalist Front, Common Force, Humanist Action and Commons .

In addition, two undersecretaries remained in the hands of the Party for Democracy and two for the Socialist Party. Meanwhile, there are eleven independents.

After the presentation of the 39 undersecretaries, there are appointments to be made: Presidential delegations -16 regional and 56 provincial- and more than 300 ministerial regional secretariats (seremis).
