With a festival in front of Congress as a central activity, the Paternar Campaign will be replicated this Saturday in different parts of the country to demand the expansion and extension of parental leave regimes in Argentina.

In Buenos Aires citythe activities will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Plaza Congreso, where there will be recreational and cultural spaces for children, a children’s publishing fair and the participation of legislators and other political and union leaders.
“Parents only have two days of leave, being one of the countries in the region that is most behind in this regard. A few weeks ago the Government presented the ‘Caring for Equality’ project, which proposes the extension of parental leave and there are also other projects in the same sense; it is time for Congress to move forward with this agenda,” said Juan Roca, a member of the campaign for the Desarmarnos collective.
“We want the expansion of parental leave to be part of a more general process that discusses the role that men have in care tasks in our society,” added Daniel Jones, from the Institute for Masculinities and Social Change.
