The decree indicates that the inhabitants who are not Catholics must also refrain from ringing their equipment during Holy Week, “out of respect,” they point out.
News Colombia.
A controversy has been unleashed in the municipality of El Guamo, department of Tolima, after they were prohibited from listening to music during this Holy Week.
And it is that the measure was given precisely by the mayor, Rafael Monroy, who established it through a decree.
“Without music” at Easter in El Guamo
“HE restricts temporarily from Wednesday April 5 (05), 2023 from 6:00 AM to midnight on Sunday, April 9, the use of radios, sound equipment or any other equipment that emits sounds into the environment, which is located in areas constituting public space without prior municipal authorization for their occupation”, dictates the decree.
The measure also prohibits the carrying and possession of white weapons and/or sharp-edged objects such as knives, daggers, razors, mitts, cachirras, machetes, mallets, axes, and hammers.
They point out that the objective is to promote spaces for reflection.
“We want you to spend an Easter full of reflection and harmony, which is why we have taken measures to guarantee security and public order during this season,” the Mayor’s Office said in a statement.
That they do not listen to music, at least at high volume, in the streets, they respond, “it is an act of respect for the beliefs of others.”
Also, because they usually bring out sound equipment for the parties.
However, there is annoyance and controversy over the administrative decision.
