Los Planetas is a suite by Gustav Holst composed for a large orchestra; This Saturday, June 24, 150 musicians will perform for the first time in Santa Cruz the compositions of the English musician. The show will be conducted by Isaac Terceros, director of the Santa Cruz de la Sierra Philharmonic Orchestra.

On this occasion, those directed by Third Parties will share the stage with the Fine Arts Youth Orchestra, with musicians from the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra (Indiana, USA) and teachers from the University of Central Arkansas, also from the United States. It will be a show in which music will be combined with a multimedia experience that will travel through the stars, described by the demanding compositions. The work demands a large orchestra. “It is the first time that it is played in Santa Cruz And with such a big orchestra. That is why the sum of forces of four institutions is required”, Terceros highlighted.

The second season of the Philharmonic promises to be an unforgettable cosmic journey and it will take place this Saturday at 8:30 p.m. in the theater of the Santa Cruz Cooperative School (Las Palmas neighborhood, Barcelona street No. 1). The staging will begin with a fanfare, a short, powerful piece of music performed by the brass musicians of the Philharmonic, who will be in charge of opening the concert with their wind instruments.

The show will continue with one of the jewels in the history of classical music: Mozart’s concerto for clarinet and orchestra in A major. The monumental work will be performed by Alejandro Ortiz, who is the winner of the Bolivia 2023 Classical Music Contest. “Making music is my passion and playing this Mozart concerto will be very exciting. It is a challenge and a source of pride,” Ortiz told EL DEBER.

First time in Santa Cruz

The staging of Gustav Holst’s work was quite a challenge for Terceros. “This work for any orchestra is one of the most demanding, but also great. I feel very happy because we can do it in Santa Cruz and we have the level to do the staging”, assured Terceros. The director made a special invitation to the public.

“We want everyone to be able to come to this very special night.

We will be very happy to receive attendees. It is a show for the whole family,” said Terceros.

The creation of the Englishman Gustav Holst was composed between 1914 and 1916 and in this special presentation the show will be accompanied by an audiovisual. “They are real images that could be recorded of what the geography of each planet looks like. Therefore, it will be a visit to these planets because we will get to know what they are like while enjoying the staging”, he pointed out.
