The Ministry of Energy has announced that from the first half of July the winter rate in Chile. In addition, a significant reduction in electricity bills for regulated customers will be implemented. But, who will be the beneficiaries of this reduction?

In the case of residential rates that exceed 430 kWh, a benefit of approximately $60,000 will be applied to the electricity bill. The objective is to encourage the use of electricity and promote energy efficiency in homes. President Gabriel Boric announced during his Public Account the decision to eliminate the winter rate administratively as soon as possible.
For his part, the Minister of Energy, Diego Pardow, mentioned that this elimination provides an opportunity to develop new tools that promote investment in efficient, accessible and sustainable heating technologies. The removal of the winter rate It is aligned with the country’s climate policies, which seek to promote electrification to replace heating based on fossil fuels.
This will help reduce air and household pollution levels, especially in the cities of southern Chile.
