Within the framework of the Winter 2023 campaign, which began this Monday, April 10, more than 214,000 doses were applied this week. The number includes doses against: influenza, Covid and pneumococcus.
The Expanded Program on Immunization reported that, 112,372 people (between children and adults) received the quadrivalent vaccine this week against influenza, 92,077 the annual bivalent against Covid-19 and 10,065 against pneumococcus. The figures total 214,514 doses applied in a week.
Capital, Central, Itapúa, Caaguazú and Alto Paraná are the regions with the highest number of vaccinated. They are followed by Paraguarí, Cordillera, Concepción and Guairá.
The bell it began on Monday and will run until July 14. The time limit is intended for people to come in the opportune period, in order to arrive withn protection from the coldest days of the Paraguayan winter.
With this, it is not intended to avoid infections, but rather, prevent severe forms of disease mentioned, which are present throughout the year, but worsen between June, July and August.
The Neumo 23 vaccine is aimed at people over 60 years of age and older, for protection against pneumococcus. The bivalent against Covid is indicated from 5 years onwards, once a year. Quadrivalents against influenza are also annual. It is possible to apply all three at the same time, without any risk, according to the health authorities.
