Wingo speaks out against the temporary suspension of flights to and from Venezuela

In the midst of the whole process of reopening the border and reestablishing relations between Colombia and Venezuela, it was learned that the government of the neighboring country asked the Wingo airline suspend the start of its air operations, which were initially scheduled and authorized for next October 4.

As communicated to the airline, this temporary suspension occurs while some issues are resolved between the Governments of Colombia and Venezuela on the airlines approved for fly between the two countries.

“Due to the above, Wingo suspended from this Saturday, September 24 the sale of tickets on the Bogotá-Caracas-Bogotá route and is awaiting the final decisions adopted by the authorities for its restart,” the airline said in a statement.

Wingo added that, “as soon as the Venezuelan authorities notify the airline when it will be able to resume the commercialization of routes between the two countries, the company will restart sales and inform the new start date of flights.

Finally, the airline assured that it will contact travelers who had already purchased tickets for this route in order to offer them driving alternatives.

Wingo provides a message of calm to passengers affected by this momentary suspension and hopes to be the airline that connects them very soon with their loved ones, ”the statement details.

It is important to remember that on September 19, the Colombian Civil Aeronautics had granted Wingo the operating permit for that route, which began in less than a week. the sale of tickets with the cheapest offer at 974,769 pesos.

Wingo would be the first airline to operate in both countries, as well as being one of the last to suspend air communication between both nations approximately four years ago.
