Wingo airline opened, this Wednesday, September 21, the sale of its flights between Bogota and Caracas, after the final approval by the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (Inac), of Venezuela.
The approval decision was received by Wingo on Monday, September 19, and was the only requirement that was pending.

The first flight of the Colombian airline will take off from Bogotá to Caracas on October 4.
Wingo will offer the flights between the Bogotá’s El Dorado airport and Maiquetía airport, that serves the Venezuelan capital, for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, initially.
Depending on the demand, the service would later be increased to a daily flight.
“We thank the Colombian and Venezuelan authorities for their positive disposition and diligence in the steps required to reestablish air connectivity between the two countries, which allows Wingo to resume its route to Caracas. In this way, Wingo strengthens its leadership and contribution to the strengthening of commercial air relations between the two countries.”, expressed Eduardo Lombana, executive president of Wingo.

In addition, those interested in traveling to Venezuela must carry out a PCR test when arriving at the Maiquetía airport, the price is 60 dollars (264,000 pesos at the current exchange rate). This amount, Wingo reported, is additional to the final price of the ticket.

On September 26, the border crossings will officially reopen between Colombia and Venezuela. Bogotá and Caracas announced simultaneously, on September 9, the reopening plan.

Diplomatic relations had been broken in February 2019 due to the support of Colombia, by the former president Ivan Duke, to the opponent Juan Guaido as interim president of Venezuela, a scenario that changed in August with the arrival of Gustavo Petro to power, since the leftist leader recognizes Maduro as his legitimate counterpart.
It is worth clarifying that the first flight between the two countries will be that same 26, on the Caracas – Bogotá route and operated by conviasa, with return the same day.
