The Congress of the Republic rejected the statements of the third vice president Wilmar Elerawho in a national media tried to justify and dismiss the complaint for rape faced by Congressman Freddy Díaz. From Parliament they urged him to apologize publicly for his expressions.
“The Congress of the Republic rejects all types of violence against women that threaten their dignity. For this reason, we regret the expressions of our third vice president of the Board of Directors, made in a media outlet, and we urge him to offer public apologies to the country for the statements made regarding the case of Congressman Freddy Díaz Monago,” the statement said.

This as a result of the statements made by the third vice president in an interview with TV Peru. The legislator mentioned that the abuse was caused by the excess of liquor and because the victim was the only woman who worked in that environment.
“I think the lady is the only woman who works in the entire space for men, which has created a much more conducive environment, especially when they start drinking liquor,” were the reprehensible statements made by the parliamentarian.
The Ombudsman also rejected these expressions and urged the representatives of the Legislative Power to “eradicate all forms of justification and tolerance of gender violence.”
