Willy Huerta appoints former Minsa official linked to alleged ‘smurf’ as adviser

The Ministry of the Interior appointed as a new adviser to the office of to Juan Carlos Delgado Echevarría, a former official of the Ministry of Health who has been implicated in the alleged ‘smurfing’ carried out by former minister Jorge López to make payments to his ex-partner.

Ministerial resolution 1536-2022-IN, published this Tuesday, November 1 in the legal regulations bulletin of El Peruano, bears the signature of Huerta and makes Delgado official as advisor II of his ministerial office, in a position that was vacant according to reads in the document.

As reported by Punto Final, former Minister of Health Jorge López ordered workers in his sector to make payments to a bank account owned by the mother of his children, Dervy Apaza. In total, about ten deposits were made in different locations and in a few hours for a total amount of S / 98 thousand, in addition to having registered a transaction of about 70 thousand dollars from businessman Luis Quito.

Due to these facts, the prosecution opened an investigation against the former minister, whose departure from office was announced by Pedro Castillo a few hours after the news report.

The journalistic information details that López coordinated the payments through this ‘smurf’ in various armies with Juan Carlos Delgado, who held the position of chief of the Cabinet of the Ministerial Office.

After the complaint and the confirmation of López’s departure from the position of minister, Delgado presented his letter of resignation.

Delgado was appointed to that position on February 11, 2022, during the administration of former Minister Hernán Condori.
