MADRID, Spain.- The popular Cuban actor William Levy celebrated on social networks the success of the series “Montecristo”, which he produced and stars in.
Levy assured that the series is currently number 1 among those in the drama genre on the ViX+ platform, a premium version of the TelevisaUnivision streaming platform, where it will premiere on April 21.
The Caribbean heartthrob also thanked the audience from a post on his Twitter account instagramin which he shared images of the audiovisual.
For their part, ViX+ expressed, “Thank you to all the fans of #Monte Cristo for accompanying Edmundo on his dark path for justice.”
In this thriller, based on the literary classic The Count of Monte Cristo From Alexandre Dumas, William Levy stars as Edmund Dantes/Alejandro Montecristo, a businessman who founds a successful technology company and fights against the system. One of his enemies is Fernando Mondego, a businessman who wants Alejandro’s company, and whom he had met in the past.
Although it is a very modern version of Dumas’s work, in this installment betrayal, revenge and love also mark the narrative.
In the cast of Montecristo is the also popular Cuban actor Héctor Noas, the Mexican Esmeralda Pimentel, and the Spanish Juan Fernández, Silvia Abascal, Itziar Atienza and Guiomar Puerta.
The six-episode series, filmed in the Canary Islands and in Madrid, was directed by Alberto Ruiz-Rojo and the script was written by Lidia Fraga and Jacobo Díaz.
Levywho gained great popularity in several countries last year for his leading role in the remake of the Colombian novel Woman-fragranced coffee, had said in an interview with Deadline: “I have always loved this story and wanted to tell it. (…) I remember we started talking about it when I was working on the Fox series Star in Atlanta, about how to make this dream come true. About three years later, it really started to come together. It’s different from the original because it’s a modern version, so I think our version will pleasantly surprise viewers.”
