May 1 is free for students and workers on the occasion of Labor Day. However, this year it falls on a Sunday, hence the doubt as to whether or not to travel on Monday.
What is celebrated on May 1?
Labor Day. In Mexico, during the Mexican Revolution, the Casa del Obrero Mundial unified various labor organizations. Its affiliates decided to publicly commemorate May 1 as International Labor Day starting in 1913. That year the first workers’ parade was held on May 1, in which more than 25,000 workers participated.
Does it go to Monday?
No. In accordance with Article 74 of the Federal Labor Law, May 1 is a mandatory rest day, but it is not contemplated that the date be moved to the first Monday of the month.
Despite the fact that May 1 is contemplated within the law as a non-working day for students and workers on the occasion of Labor Day, going through it for the following Monday will depend on the provisions of each dependency or work center.
Although in the month of May there will be no bridge for May 1, this April there will be another day of rest, although only for students. On the 29th there will be another non-working day but this will only be applicable to the students of the School Technical Council.
Are there bridges in May?
On May 5, it is only applicable to students for the commemoration of the Battle of Puebla.
May 27 is also a break for public education students by the Technical School Council.
