Santo Domingo.- A bill was presented in the Senate of the Republic to create a new province, which would be called Santa Lucía and would be the number 33 of the Dominican Republic.
The project is authorship of the senator by the province of San Juan, Félix Bautista, and, if approved in both legislative chambers, would make the Las Matas de Farfán municipality, in the south of the country, in the Santa Lucía province.
It is proposed to create the new Santa Lucia province in the Dominican Republic
This municipality is part of the San Juan province, and has great agricultural production.
At present, the Dominican Republic is composed of 32 provinces, plus the National District.
Some sectors of society understand that it is not time to create new demarcations.
The piece was presented this Tuesday at the session of the Senate of the Republic, the first of the current legislature, and sent to the Municipal Development Commission of the Upper House.
