Will Abdo be a candidate for the ANR or not? He promised to respond in March and they claim it

Hoy Paraguay

Senator Ramón Retamozo, on behalf of the Colorado ruling party, assures that they expect Mario Abdo Benítez to decide as soon as possible whether or not he will run for the Presidency of the ANR. The president had promised to reply in March, but has not yet complied.

The inmates of the ANR on December 18 already have some defined candidates, but doubts persist about some positions.

For the Presidency of the Governing Board, the only confirmed candidate is businessman Horacio Cartes, who for now does not know his opponent.

Precisely for that same position, President Mario Abdo Benítez could also be a candidate, despite the fact that he continues to exercise the Presidency of the Republic.

The idea began to sound from the end of 2021 and until then, Abdo announced that he would make a decision in the third month of 2022. “March, man,” he answered the last time.

In this regard, Senator Ramón Retamozo said in an interview with radio Universo 970 – Nación Media, that the grassroots leadership of the Colorado ruling party expects Abdo to decide “as soon as possible” on the candidacy for the Colorado Party, since the days and months go by fast.

In another order, he ruled out that the Minister of Works, Arnoldo Wiens, be the one who finally completes the plate of Hugo Velázquez, since Juan Manuel Brunetti has already been officially presented.
