Two of the main activators of violence for political purposes in Greater Caracas were killed outside their bases of operations. These are Wilexis Acevedo Monasterios (El Wilexis) and Darwin Galis Carvajal Pérez (El Dubai).
Both El Wilexis and El Dubai were killed by Cicpc commissions between December 2024 and, in the case of El Dubai, he was the leader of Los Bataneros del 70, a criminal gang dedicated to the distribution of drugs in Los Cardones, La Manzana, El Tamarindo, La Cajigal, among other sectors of El Valle.
Dubai had participated in the acts of violence that occurred in El Valle on Monday, July 29 and Tuesday, July 30, 2024, after María Corina Machado had spoken out ignoring the results of the presidential elections that gave victory to the Gran Polo candidate Nicolás Maduro. .
That Monday afternoon in the afternoon, a group of hooded boys went out to the main avenue of El Valle and began to lift the bars of the sewers, set tires on fire in each block and interrupt the Intercomunal with various odds and ends.
These actions were observed from the entrance of the San Antonio sector, where there is a police module, to the Las Mayas bridge. Parallel to that road are located checkpoints 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Fuerte Tiuna. There is also 14th Street in El Valle where the current president Nicolás Maduro lived when he was young. Precisely on that block, the hooded individuals burned four vehicles.
That day, El Dubai was placed on the block at the entrance to Cajigal Street, where the largest number of deaths occurred in the guarimbas of 2017, which were also actions of violence for political purposes called by a sector of the Venezuelan opposition.
Taking as a shield the garbage containers placed on that block, El Dubai, gun in hand, had several of the peddlers who usually sell in the small square at the entrance of the El Valle Shopping Center within range.
Days before the elections, El Dubai and its people had threatened the Chavismo communal leaders who live in El Valle, many of whom work in the informal economy. “You won’t arrive until the 28th,” he told them, according to testimonies.
The frustrated shot
That July 29, a group led by El Dubai tried to take over the women’s prison located behind Plaza Bolívar in El Valle. They advanced from Cajigal Street towards the vicinity of the church where they were repelled by officials of the Bolivarian National Police assigned to the El Valle Police Station. A few hours later, they tried again but first they sent a drone to evaluate the terrain. And as they saw that the PNB had reinforced surveillance, they gave up the action.
In these acts of violence, they murdered two people, homicides that they attribute to the El Dubai gang.
For the month of December 2024 and January 2025, the bands agitating violence for political purposes were activated in Caracas, according to military sources. In that sense, El Dubai was entrusted with carrying out street actions similar to those on July 29, but with some selective murders of popular leaders residing in the El Valle parish.
In those days, Roalmi Alberto Cabeza Cedeño, the motorist of María Corina Machado, who was captured on January 13, was seen quite frequently at the El Valle Shopping Center.
The security agencies learned of these plans and acted accordingly. Dubai also knew that they were monitoring him, so he decided to flee towards the old Petare-Guarenas highway, where he used to hide. The Cicpc commissions arrived in the area, specifically to the La Avioneta sector, where they tried to arrest him but he chose to confront the uniformed officers, and was dejected. This occurred on Monday, December 1, 2024.
Dubai inherited its criminal leadership in the El 70 neighborhood, once Víctor Leonel González Hernández (Jonaiker Cara Cortada) was killed, an event that occurred in the early hours of Sunday, March 26, 2023 in the aforementioned Caracas sector.
The DEA piece
A month and a half after El Dubai was killed, another of the perpetrators of violence for political purposes in Greater Caracas was also killed: alias El Wilexis.
Parallel to his criminal career, dedicated mainly to collecting vaccines against merchants in the José Félix Ribas neighborhood where he also sold drugs, El Wilexis enrolled in activities associated with the Venezuelan extreme right, according to files.
Thus, the flag was given on the first of April 2017 for the start of that year’s guarimbas, which lasted until August 15 with a death toll of 155, according to the balance presented by Vice President Delcy Rodríguez before the Defense Council of the Nation and Council of State.
During those guarimbas in 2017, the 5 de Julio bridge, which connects La Urbina with the neighborhoods of Petare, was one of the main focuses of confrontations between hooded men and military agents.
Distractive Operation
- Two years after the 2017 guarimbas, specifically in January 2019, El Wilexis and his group carried out a series of street actions in the area of Petare and Palo Verde. They were the days before Juan Guaidó was sworn in as “interim president.”
- These violent actions, materialized in blocking streets and burning tires, were coordinated with the seizure of a detachment of the Bolivarian National Guard located in Cotiza, Caracas. Said seizure of the aforementioned military establishment occurred on January 21, 2019. The compromised officers stole weapons, ammunition and vehicles from the GNB unit located in the Petare neighborhood.
- The following year El Wilexis intervenes again in a mission with political purposes. He was tasked with distracting the security agencies so that they would desist from stopping Operation Gedeón, which had the purpose of kidnapping President Nicolás Maduro, handing him over to the United States and thus allowing the installation of a government junta headed by Raúl Isaías Baduel and Guaidó. . Two days before the Gideón El Wilexis carried out shootings in Petare.
