“The Investigative Chamber accused Congressman Miguel Polo Polo of the crime of aggravated insult and ruled out slander,”
The high court reported in its account of X.

The Court explained that the case is related to the “signals that (Polo) made on networks on August 23, 2023 against the then candidate for mayor of Bogotá, Gustavo Bolívar.”

Consequently, the Court ordered that the case be sent to the Special Trial Chamber for the “subsequent action”that is to say, that Polo, a member of the House of Representatives for a special Afro constituency, was called to trial.

The Special Investigation Chamber of the High Court announced, in February of this year, the opening of a formal investigation against him to study a complaint filed by Bolívar for a publication on social networks in which Polo related him, supposedly, with the suicide of two of its employees, the financing of the First Line, among other events.

The so-called First Line was made up of young people who, with their faces covered and dressed in handmade shields and helmets participated in social protests confronting the police force.

More controversies

The congressman has been at the center of public debate after the controversial dismantling of a tribute to the victims of ‘false positives’.

In this sense, last week a Bogotá judge ordered Polo to offer a public apology to the Mothers of Soacha and the victims.
of the executions of civilians by members of the Army, known as ‘false positives’for re-victimizing them with actions that disrespect their memory.

The ruling indicates that the congressman must ask “Apologies to the mothers who make up Mafapo and to the country before a national institutional media outlet for the acts carried out on November 6” of this year.

That day, Polo threw away some boots artistically intervened by the mothers of Mafapo (Mothers of False Positives), who put them in an exhibition in Plaza Núñez, located between the Casa de Nariño and the National Capitol, as a tribute to the victims of extrajudicial executions in Soacha, a town near Bogotá.
