One week after the registration process opened to aspire to the Chamber of AccountsRogelio Alfonso Genao, who chairs the evaluation commission, reported that so far no candidate has been registered to be part of the constitutional body.
Genao described the process as “a little slow,” although he expressed optimism, trusting that a greater number of interested parties will register during this week or early next week.
He attributed the lack of applicants to the strict requirements andestablished by law, which include obtaining certifications from the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) that certify the absence of tax debts and a history without criminal records.
In a call addressed to citizens, Genao urged those who consider that they can contribute to the supervisory body to review the requirements and participate in the registration process. “We need a new Chamber of Accounts that works fully on the aspirations of the Dominican people,” he emphasized.
