“First of all, I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to all the fans of San Antonio FC for the way they have received me over the past few months,” Bonilla said.

“I have made the decision to retire from professional football for personal reasons. I am very grateful to everyone here and I am very happy to have been part of such a beautiful city and such a wonderful club. I wish everyone at SAFC the best and will continue to support the team that I believe can win a USL championship title this season.” newsletter.
Bonilla arrived at the American club in January of this year. He has started all three SAFC games, “making nine saves and recording a clean sheet in the season-opening win over Detroit City FC on March 12,” the club confirms.
The North American squad thanked the Colombian goalkeeper for his stay at the club and “wishes him luck in his future endeavors.”
It should be noted that in Colombia, Christian Bonilla wore the colors of the Once Caldas, Boyacá Chicó, Atlético Nacional, Millonarios and Equidad teams.
He also had a spell abroad playing for Al Fayha of the United Arab Emirates.
In addition, Christian Bonilla was the goalkeeper of the Tricolor in the Youth World Championship played in our country in 2011, where figures such as James Rodríguez, Luis Fernando Muriel and Duvan Zapata came out.
He established himself as the starter of this Under-20 team but could never do so in the Seniors since this position has never let Napoli’s goalkeeper from Italy, David Ospina, shake him.
Fans of the player are still amazed by this decision of the athlete from Antioquia, since 28 years old is still a suitable age to be able to continue covering under the three sticks.
