Why did the water of the Hatillo dam turn olive green? Concern grows in Cotuí

¿Por qué el agua de la presa de Hatillo se volvió verde olivo? Crece preocupación en Cotuí

Quitasueño, Cotuí.-The Hatillo Damthe largest freshwater lake in the Greater Antilles, is once again generating concern in different sectors of the Sánchez Ramírez province, after its waters began to show an unusual olive green hue in recent days.

Fishermen and visitors to the aquifer complex were the first to warn that the reservoir, traditionally crystalline, has changed its appearance suddenly and without apparent explanation.

Those who depend on fishing have decided to suspend their activities, amid the confusion and uncertainty caused by the strange phenomenon.

Concern has been increasing, while the community waits for the urgent intervention of the Ministry of the Environment to initiate a technical investigation to determine the possible causes of the change in the color of the water.
