The Qatar 2022 World Cup is the monotheme on social networks, the media and coffee talks, but not everything is football in these conversations.
After Argentina’s defeat against Saudi Arabia, criticism of the Scaleneta abounded and, even more so, due to the performance of Rodrigo de Paul, which was not the best in recent times, according to sports specialists. The performance of the Argentine midfielder was disapproved and they pointed to his current girlfriend, the singer and actress Tini Stoessel, as the culprit, who was not even on the Doha court. The question to ponder would be What does Tiny have to do with it? Why was she labeled a ‘mufa’? Why are women blamed for the poor performance of men?
Faced with these superstitious and misogynistic accusations, De Paul’s former partner and mother of his children Francesca and Bautista, Camila Homs, sympathized with Tini saying that “people are bad” and “poor girl”. Homs added: “It seems to me that she has nothing to do with it, she is part of the party, that she can go well or go badly.”
Memes and images invaded the networks the week after the National Team match, many in reference to the fact that De Paul is not concentrating and that his head is on the ‘Triple T’ -Stoessel’s song-. Most of the tweets describe the supposed ‘loss’ of masculinity -socially constructed as unique- of De Paul being with Tini and that, somehow, the romance distracts him from the game, perpetuating a discourse of violence.

Gaturro’s creator, Nik, he also did not remain silent when tweeting “please, take off De Paul’s boots that say ‘Triple T’ and put real ones on him.” The illustrator made reference to the ‘TTT’ that was read on the footballer’s shoes, alluding to one of the latest successes of his girlfriend Tini’s.
Tini’s father, producer Alejandro Stoessel, came out to defend his daughter: “I wanted to tell you about my surprise after reading your tweet linked to Rodri’s boots mentioning Tini. I think that both you and I know what it means to be attacked from the networks. I know that your profession is to make humor, but it would have been prudent to avoid generalizing bullying. It’s a shame, but the fact that a man “comes out to defend a woman” or, at least, to show solidarity with her, in general, is more legitimized than the person who is being attacked defending himself or that another woman comes out in his defense.”

Social networks and ‘haters’
Twitter is par excellence the social network where ‘haters’ abound. Not only is it machismo and free criticism, but this phenomenon has been typical in networks for some time in which the ‘hatear’ -hate- he is the protagonist of these socialization spaces; even more so when faced with the disappointment and frustration of seeing the National Team lose, empathy seems to be lost and it is easier to point to anyone in order to find the culprits.
As a result of the signaling towards Tini, the reflection on what are the limits of humor and to what extent a comment is funny and at what point does it become offensive and violent. The fact that someone feels attacked is enough of a turning point for a wave of tweets to not be considered humorous.
TUITS THAT ATTACK TINI
They not only targeted Tini but also they insulted her and they made comments about her bodyamong other attacks:
– “Tini I hate you, what did you do to my De Paul”
-“The Triple T is the three shots that De Paul is going to get because of Tini”
-“On Telefé they asked a kid leaving the stadium ‘if you were Scaloni, what changes would you make?’ “I take De Paul out and send him to a Tini concert””
-“WHAT DID YOU DO TO DE PAUL TINI, YOU HAVE TO BE TRIALED FOR TREASON AGAINST THE COUNTRY”
-“TINI WE ARE GOING TO SEARCH YOU AMONG EVERYONE AND WE ARE GOING TO BOLETIA LOKA LOOK AT WHAT YOU DID ALL THE BRONKA I HAVE ABOVE WACHA KE KARAJO IS GOING ON WITH THE SELESION ABOVE GETTING UP EARLY TO THE FART KOMO A RE PELOTUDA I’M GOING TO SET EVERYTHING ON FIRE. KISSES ROSA “.
-“Tini destroyed De Paul, the stag, and the illusion of all of Argentina”

TUITS IN SUPPORT OF TINI
On the other hand, many users came out to express the “ridiculousness” of blaming Tini for her boyfriend’s game and supporting the artist:
– “They are already canceling Tini because of how De Paul played, please go to therapy as if she were to blame Godsss”
-“Saying that De Paul played badly because of Tini is like saying that if she were to go out of tune or hit a stick in a show it would be the boyfriend’s fault jskdk the misogyny in person”
-“The tt are three women: Tini, Camina Homs and Nati Jota. Those who play, eleven men. COME ON OLD MAN, LET THIS MISOGYNY NOT BE NOTICED SO MUCH”
– “The harassment of Tini received yesterday on this and all platforms, even by public figures, is a fact that cannot and should not be repeated, it is not fair for her or her family that the whole world says things of this magnitude to each other . Stop blaming other people for the performance of 11 players.”
– “If a song by Tini goes badly, do you have to blame the boyfriend??? notify”
– “People say that they don’t hate Tini, that it’s only a meme, but they tell her anorexic to die that they hate her, that they want her head to hang on the obelisk, WTF if that’s a meme, What will it be if they really hate her, is everything alright at home?
Besides, remember that he is a human being and that we all feel even if we play strong, so be aware that you don’t play with those bad comments!

Targeting women is not a current phenomenon
From Yoko Ono to Tini, and many cases in between, these are just a few of the many examples of how always throughout history and in different corners of the planet women have been attacked by wrongful -or human- actions of men. mens.
Yoko Ono is considered the factor that broke “The Beatles”, one of the most iconic bands of all time in western music. For that reason or, rather, theory, the artist is disqualified and ‘hated’ instead of focusing on the members of the former Liverpool rock band.
In the World Cup in South Africa (2010) the Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué met the international Colombian star Shakira, with whom they began a sexual-affective relationship and eventually formed a family. Shakira participated in the opening of that World Cup with the iconic “Waka Waka”. Some time later, Piqué was criticized for his poor sports performance, saying that he was too distracted because of the Colombian.
Once again, the eye of the storm on women and how it can affect, for better or worse, the working life of the man next to her.
Is it easier to hate women than men? Why? Will it be the norm? Is it what we are used to? Perhaps it is time to turn the wheel and become aware, with a gender perspective, to stop pointing fingers at anyone just because they are a woman or a member of the LGBTIQ+ community.
