Wholesale prices rose 5.9% and the cost of construction 2.5%

The general level of the Wholesale Domestic Price Index (IPIM) registered an increase of 5.9% in April compared to the previous month, while the Construction Cost Index (ICC) in Greater Buenos Aires had a rise of 2.5% in the same period, reported this Tuesday the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec)

In this way, in the first quarter of the year, wholesale prices accumulated an increase of 22.3% and the cost of construction, 14.7%.

The IPIM, which measures the variation in prices that producers and importers sell in the domestic market, including taxes, registered an increase of 5.9% in April compared to the previous month, while the annual variation was 51.9 %

This performance of domestic wholesale prices is the result of the rise of 5.8% in national products and 6.6% in imported products, explained the Indec.

Besides, the general level of the Wholesale Basic Domestic Price Index (IPIB), which excludes the tax effect of the IPIM, showed an increase of 5.7% in the same periodand in this case, the variation is explained by the rise of 5.6% in domestic products and 6.6% in imported products.

Likewise, the general level of the Basic Producer Price Index (IPP), which measures the variation in the prices of local production, excluding taxes, registered an increase of 5.2% in the same period, as a consequence of the rise of 3 .9% in primary products and 5.8% in manufactured products and electricity.

In this way, the Indec closed the cycle of studying the evolution of prices that had begun last week with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) that showed a rise of 6%, with an accumulated figure for the quarter of 23.1%. and an accumulated in the last 12 months of 58%.

Regarding the general level of the cost of construction in Greater Buenos Aires, the rise of 2.5% compared to the previous month, arose as a result of the 4.5% rise in the materials chapter, of 0.3% in the labor and 2.6% in general expenses.

In this segment, the highest price increases surveyed occurred in concrete and cement products 7.4%, metal openings and bars 6.8%, carpentry parts 6.6%, iron pipes and accessories 6.4%, gas appliances 6.3%, fire equipment 6.2%, iron for construction 6% and elevators 5.6%.

Regarding the values ​​of the labor chapter, they correspond to the cost surveyed in civil works of architecture located in the City of Buenos Aires and the 24 districts of the Buenos Aires suburbs, where a monthly increase of 0.3% was registered in April, with a accumulated for the quarter of 12.9%, and an annual variation of 37.3%.

Finally, in terms of general expenses, that is, those elements that are not specifically materials or labor, directly incorporated in the execution of the work, there are increases in scaffolding rental concepts 1.7%, dump truck 5.8 %, truck 7%, loader 3.1% and backhoe 0.6%.

Although the conjuncture indicators of construction activity for April will be released in early June, this month the Indec reported that the Synthetic Indicator of Construction Activity (ISAC) in March showed a rise of 1, 9% compared to the same month of 2021, while the accumulated figure for the first quarter shows a rise of 1.3%.
