They confirmed the identity of the pilot and the team that was traveling with the artist in the plane crash in Boyacá

Six people lost their lives after a small plane accident that occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, January 10, 2026, in a rural area of the Romita sector, between the municipalities of Paipa and Duitama, in the department of Boyacá. The incident generated national commotion when it was confirmed that popular music singer Yeison Jiménez was among the victims.
The aircraft had taken off minutes before from the Paipa airport bound for Medellín. Shortly after the start of the flight, the accident occurred in an area that was difficult to access, which immediately activated search and rescue protocols.

The authorities confirmed that six people were traveling on the plane, all of whom died at the scene of the accident. The victims were identified as:
- Yeison Jiménez, popular music singer
- Hernando Torres, captain and pilot of the aircraft
- Juan Manuel Rodríguez, member of the artist’s team
- Óscar Marín, member of the artist’s team
- Jefferson Osorio, member of the artist’s team
- Weisman Mora, member of the artist’s team
The news had a profound impact on the country’s cultural and musical sector, where Yeison Jiménez was recognized as one of the most influential figures of the popular genre in recent years.
This is how the accident occurred
According to official information, the small plane, identified with registration number N325FA, had a duly registered flight plan to the city of Medellín. After the accident, the aircraft’s emergency location system issued a signal that allowed the Search and Rescue Coordination Center (SAR) in Bogotá to locate the exact point of impact.
Teams from the National Police, the Fire Extinguishing Service of the Paipa airport and local relief agencies traveled to the site to attend to the emergency and secure the area.
The municipal authorities reported that the response was immediate, despite the conditions of the terrain, and that all the protocols established for this type of situation were activated.
The Technical Directorate of Accident Investigation of Civil Aeronautics assumed the investigative process to clarify the causes of the accident. According to authorities, the investigation is ongoing and no preliminary conclusions have been issued.
Duel in Boyacá
As an act of respect and solidarity, the Government of Boyacá announced the declaration of departmental mourning, accompanying the families of the victims and the artist’s close environment. Governor Carlos Amaya publicly expressed institutional support in the face of the tragedy that mourns not only the department, but the entire country.
The death of Yeison Jiménez marks a hard blow for Colombian popular music and leaves a significant void in a genre that had found in his voice one of its main contemporary references.
