WHO: Ukraine suffered more than a thousand attacks against its health system

The Ukrainian health system has suffered more than a thousand attacks since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Tuesday, May 30.

“The 1,004 attacks verified by the WHO in the last 15 months of total war have cost the lives of at least 101 people, including health professionals and patients, and left many more injured,” the European branch of the WHO said in a statement. World Health Organization.

The attacks targeted health centers, supplies and means of transport, including ambulances.

“Attacks against health services are a violation of international humanitarian law. They deprive people of the care they need, and have extensive and long-term consequences,” denounced the WHO representative in Ukraine, Jarno Habicht, quoted in the statement.
