Who is the real news: Janina Rosado or Tokischa?

For the spokesmen of mediocrity, for those who worship bad taste, frivolity and musical dysentery, this Wednesday, October 12, the news from the entertainment world was wrong. About the urban exponent named Tokischa.

That she had been the first Dominican exponent to participate in Tiny Desk, a series of concerts organized by NPR Music’s All Songs Considered radio program.

For the others, the normal ones, those who dream with their ears, and know what music is, period, the joy was that Janina Rosado is the first Dominican musician to be honored by the “Leading Ladies of Entertainment” of the Latin Recording Academy.

Let’s see how we play! That this is another fragrance. We are talking about major words, whose only support is music, not extra-musical issues such as their sexuality, nor the accolade of those who have made being a lesbian a heroism.

Lesbians have existed for as long as the world has existed. And they have every right. But let it be known, being a lesbian is not a musical genre, nor is being foul-mouthed, rude and representing primary instincts, they give anyone a halo of heroism.

Janina Rosado, the co-producer of Juan Luis Guerra and musical director of La 440, the person most aware -probably more than Amarilys Germán herself- of the musical secrets of the greatest Dominican musician, with this recognition she deserves presidential congratulations, being the center of entertainment news and admiring her mark on music.

Leading Ladies of Entertainment is a program created six years ago to recognize socially conscious professional women in the Latino arts and entertainment sector who have made important contributions and inspired the next generation of leaders, says a note from the Academy.

The recognition, which is sponsored by City National Bank, will be presented at a private presentation and luncheon on Tuesday, November 15, in Las Vegas as part of the main events of Latin Grammy Week.

Janina Rosado is also a pianist and arranger, and winner of nine Latin Grammys. Along with her, the Puerto Rican singer-songwriter will also be honored Kany Garciawinner of six Latin Grammys, and executives Rocío Guerrero, global director of Latin music at Amazon Music and Rosa Lagarrigue, executive director of RLM, an artist management firm.

“We are proud to celebrate this wonderful group of women and their outstanding contributions to the world of Latin music and entertainment,” said Manuel Abud, CEO of the Latin Recording Academy. “Although gender disparity is a reality in the industry, through initiatives such as the Leading Ladies of Entertainment platform, our organization continues to raise awareness about the effort that must be made to achieve gender equity and parity.”

Making contributions to give back and create opportunities for future generations is one of the main pillars of the program, and for the second consecutive year, Leading Ladies of Entertainment has partnered with She Is The Music, an international non-profit organization, to collaborate on a mentoring program to increase the number of women in music.

The Leading Ladies Connect TogetHER mentoring program application period begins now through Friday, November 11, 2022, at 11:59 pm ET. Who takes away that one day Tokischa can request a mentorship and find out what music is, stop being an exponent and become an artist… and that’s it! Who removes! Hope is the last thing you lose.
