Who is Ana Zegarra Saboya?
Zegarra Saboya, born on March 11, 1984 in Yurimaguas, Loreto, has a career in Peruvian politics. She has run on several occasions under the banner of the Democratic Party Somos Perú, a party to which she has been linked in her active political life.
With a solid academic background in administration, Zegarra completed her studies at the Universidad Privada del Norte, where she graduated with a degree in Administration in 2020, after previously obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in 2017. Although she does not have postgraduate studies, her career has allowed her to take on important roles in both the public and private sectors.
One of the key positions she held was as treasurer in the Caynaraqui District Municipality in 2019.
Judicial background
One of the most controversial aspects of the life of any public figure is their judicial record. In the case of Ana Zadith Zegarra Saboya, 40, her legal history has generated various reactions in public opinion, due to the sentences she has faced for intentional crimes in the past.
Zegarra Saboya has in its history two sentences linked to crimes of document forgery and ideological falsehood. In 2015, the Fourth Criminal Liquidation Court of Maynas sentenced her to three years of imprisonment, a suspended sentence, for the crime of document forgery. Previously, in 2014, the Second Preparatory Investigation Court of Maynas also sentenced her to two years of prison, under the same suspended sentence condition, for ideological falsehood.
Although both sentences were served and the sentences suspended in their entirety, Zegarra Saboya’s background has sparked intense discussion about the responsibility of public leaders and their judicial record.
