This Saturday, April 23, it was known that Walter Gutierrez will officially leave the position of ombudsman after spending nearly seven months in the post with the mandate expired. According to La República sources, Gutiérrez Camacho will be fired in a ceremony next Monday the 25th.
The person who will temporarily succeed the controversial defender will be Eliana Revollar Añaños, the first deputy of the Ombudsman. The public official will assume the reins of the institution as of Thursday, April 28.
Who is Eliana Revollar Añaños?
Eliana Revollar Añaños is a lawyer from the San Cristóbal de Huamanga National University (Ayacucho) with a master’s degree in Human Rights and Public Policy Analysis Management.

The lawyer has been in the Ombudsman’s Office for 24 years. Currently, she is the first deputy since March 26. Prior to that, she was in charge of the Office for Women’s Rights, a position she assumed in 2017. She was also responsible for the Lima office of the same institution in 2012.
